چکیده

This article is based on data from an empirical research project the multilingual situation of deaf migrants in Sweden. Deaf attending folk high schools are a heterogeneous group with various language and educational backgrounds. Some them have grown up limited or no access to spoken signed while others learning multiple languages. In those schools, learn Swedish Sign Language (STS) as well about society. The study uses ethnographic approach, has been created through participant observations interviews teachers three different municipalities analysis reveals that ideologies present these such what constitutes status languages other repertoires have. addition, STS appears be only acceptable for communication within schools. Another finding Eurocentric perspective ‘language’ among researchers often collides who experiences use. Furthermore, some migrants, after time school, begin view their previous used inferior STS. It also emerges lack knowledge necessary understand it means formally first adult. order develop teachers’ ensure social justice, adult migrants’ acquisition school contexts essential.
